Hey family,

I thought the pictures for Loren´s wedding were cool. I enjoyed the picture of the “nice piano” face, as well as the cardboard cut-outs of Mackenzie and Geoffrey. That was clever, and I appreciate some wit every now and then.

Sounds like an excellent opportunity for Franko. There couldn´t be a better situation. You can take that sarcastically or realistically: both interpretations apply. I do see this as an opportunity to strengthen his testimony by a landslide. This can make him, or break him. Seeing that he is a powerful convert, I think that this well make him a better man, and more strongly converted to the gospel.

This week was very busy. There are now 6 missionaries in our ward in Molino. They sent 2 sister missionaries last Wednesday. The past week we spent our time finding them a house. After we got them situated we presented them to their area (which was our area). We gifted our last area. We are now working farther down south in the boondocks. We´re starting with a clean slate again, so it´s like we are opening an area. We´ll hit it hard these weeks to make sure that we start baptizing again and put some dates.

Sounds like Mary is ruling the world in tennis.

I really don´t have anything to tell you about the mission this week. Everything started over again: new area, new people… same ward. We literally spent the entire week looking for a house and helping others know their new area. We are working hard.

Some interesting news…. I am getting glasses.. Ha. I´ve been having headaches lately, for a few months now. I talked to the nurse, got an eye exam…. my vision is more than perfect, but it looks like the nerves are stressed out from the sun. They prescribed some non-prescriptive lenses that turn dark in the sun, so I don´t have to squint. Basically I bought some nerd shades.

Hey, if I go on a mission and look like a nerd, I might as well go all the way. Bring on the nerd-shades, lets get that party going, and I´ll go preach a bit. It´ll be fun.

Well family, I love you all. Take care. I´m going to send some pictures later on if I can.

Love,
Elder Jacobsen

Hey family,
I am very happy that Franko was baptized.

I`m still waiting on the package, but I haven`t checked in about a week, so it`s probably there.

We had two baptisms last week. Their names are Fredy Moreno and Jose Contreras. Both of them are married and have wives. The wives were less-active members. We baptized the husbands and reactivated the wives. It was a great experience. The two are some of my favorite converts in my entire mission.

The picture that is not inside a church is the ______ family. They are very cool people to be around. Fredy is an amazing convert. They do not live in our area. The stake president gave us the reference and with the approval of the mission pres, we went and taught them.

Jose Conteras is the other little guy. We married them Saturday and them had Jose baptized the next day. He is also one of my favortie converts. He is 23 years old and they have a little son. His baptismal clothes are a little big, but when we asked if we had smaller clothes we said, “yes, but they are for 8 years old.” He is a small guy, but is a spiritual giant.

If you can mom, send me some pictures of Franko`s baptism. I hope the service was a good one. There is such a strong spirit in a baptismal service. I`ve had investigators decide to get baptized because of the spirit they felt during the service. It is a great opportunity to introduce investigators to the church.

As a mission we are doing a PMG reading chart. I recently finished reading it and I really have gained a testimony of that book as living scripture. I invite you as a family to study it as the Book of Mormon or the Bible. Preach My Gospel provides an organized, set, and stable way to present the doctrine of the church. It is a compilation of doctrines presented in the Book of Mormon in an organized and established way. If you would like to help the children understand the doctrine of the church, study PMG: mainly chapters 3 and 5. Mom, if you want to improve your teaching, study chapter 10. I know the book is scripture. Begin a habit of study.

Thanks family for the support. I love you. Keep baptizing. I like that.
The gospel has a familiar ring to all who hear it, because they have heard it. Pray about it, but I hope for more missionaries and investigators in your house again.

If you can, send me some hard-core acne killer. It`s not too bad, but I can`t seem to get rid of it.
That red cased Cetaphil worked, but I`m thinking something harder. This El Salvadoranian witch brewery medicine doesn`t seem to do the trick.
Love you,
Elder Jacobsen

Goodness parents,
I think you tore my heart in half when you told me the news about Cami. Let Doug know that I love him, and that he was always one of the men I put on a pedestal. I emailed him, but let him know I love him.

News for the week, we confirmed Joaquin Guerrero, and we have 2 baptisms this weekend. They are two family baptisms, and we are excited for them. There names are Fredy Moreno, and Jose Contreras. There wives are both less active members that we are activating in the process.

Things are going well in the mission. They glide along, and I keep working. The time goes by so fast, and we got to make sure we are working hard. Last Tuesday we had a temple trip where we brought investigators to see the outsides of the temple. Our zone loaded up 3 busses of members and investigators. We brought 55, which was really quite an accomplishment for the size of our zone.

The things are speeding up in the area. We have found some very positive investigators that were prepared by the Lord to hear us. They have gone to church, and are progressing. We should see more baptisms coming up here soon.

It has been a great experience on the mission to see how the spirit can work within us, how to recognize it, and how to improve. One of the things I`ve learned in the mission is that some of the most real and important things are the things that are not seen: faith, love, diligence, obedience, confidence with the Lord, and charity. Such things and attrubutes of God last forever, they are not seen, and only the pure in heart can obtain them.

The contrast are the things that Satan encites us to obtain. Such things are superficial, visible, and short lasting. They aren`t constant, and they have extreme highs and lows: lust, envy, hatred, anger, nice clothes, material.

God is constant. Our spirit lasts forever. Shouldn`t we put our emphasis on these things? Why would I waste my time improving my self-image in the eyes of others, when perhaps God might be disappointed? I am discovering a great new way to live life: ensure that God is pleased with me, always. I must show Him I love Him by my diligence and faith in His word… and it works. I feel full, all the time. Life is sweet, and rewarding.

Thanks for sending me. Give Doug my love, and send a birthday wish to Grandpa Jacobsen.

Love you.
Elder Jacobsen.
